This is an Athearn GP39-2 kitbashed from a blue box GP38-2 for the D&H. It is NOT a total kitbash, but a close representation. To make it correct the radiator fans would have to be removed and replaced with a fan hatch from plano and two flat top 48" fans. A phase I GP39-2 such as this one, has a wider spacing between the fans just like the earlier GP38 model. This unit was sold on ebay.
ANOTHER VIEW OF D&H GP39-2
BELOW IS A GP40-2LW KCS KITBASHED WITH AN ATHEARN GP40-2 BLUE BOX UNIT
The unit above, a gp40-2LW was kitbashed for a customer who purchased his first unit from ebay. He wanted another number of the same model to go with it. This unit recieved a very high detailing and the cabs were made using the DA offering.
RAIL AMERICA SW1500
ABOVE IS A RAIL AMERICA SW1500 EX SP WITH LIGHT PACKAGE PLATED OUT LIKE THE PROTOTYPE. ALSO THE PILOTS WERE FILLED IN AS IN THE PROTOTYPE PHOTOS. THIS IS A REAL
EYE-CATCHER. VERY USEFUL ON ANY MODERN LAYOUT AS THE UNIT IS SUB-LETTERED RMPX. THE CUSTOMER WHO PURCHASED THIS ON EBAY HAS SINCE BECOME ONE OF MY REGULAR CUSTOMERS. BUT HE HAS VARIED THINGS A LITTLE BY HAVING ME FREELANCE USING RAIL AMERICA AS THE ROADNAME. YOU CAN SEE HIS GP38B UNITS ON THE NEXT PAGES
